- Protection and Assistance for Victims of Human Trafficking –

 

  • Definition of Trafficking in Persons

                “Trafficking in persons” shall mean the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons, by means of the threat or use of force or other forms of coercion, of abduction, of fraud, of deception, of the abuse of power or of a position of vulnerability or of the giving or receiving of payments or benefits to achieve the consent of a person having control over another person, for the purpose of exploitation. Exploitation shall include, at a minimum, the exploitation of the prostitution of others or other forms of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, slavery or practices similar to slavery, servitude or the removal of organs;

  • Assistance Services

Social Assistance Center (SAC) has been providing social assistance to people in need. For those who are involved in human trafficking, our services include

- fact-finding/ gathering of information and evidences

- planning on assistance process

- screening and victim identification

- notifying the rights of the victims and the services available (interpreters are provided)

- interpreting services from SAC’s volunteers

- providing primary services such as healthcare and legal advice

  • Assistance Services for those who are identified as victims of human trafficking

Once human trafficking victims are identified, following assistances and services are provided

- welfare protection

- health and medical services

- mental health rehabilitation and reintegration

- access to social services such as shelters, educational supports, vocational training

-  legal assistance in claiming for compensation , wage and other cost incurred, criminal and civil prosecution, temporary legal status extending residence in Thailand
